Falls and Tunnels

Anderson is one town where there is too much to see in one visit. Though the crew had been there before, Jeremy and I had not, so our first stop was the Anderson Visitors Center located in the newly remodeled train station turned arts center downtown. There we talked to Glenn Brill, Executive Director of the visitors center, who had a plethora of attractions and coming events for us to see and do. He was also kind enough to teach us a little bit about the Issaqueena Falls and Stumphouse tunnel at Stumphouse Mountain.
We decided to visit the falls in Walhalla and feature it in one of our online videos. The video will be up in a couple of weeks so for now you’ll just have to check out the photos. The falls were amazing, cool clear water running over the granite cliff face. Bring your hiking boots though because there are some treacherous paths if you veer off the main walkway. You can even walk under an overhang and sit, completely dry, behind the falls. The history of the site is an interesting one, but you will have to wait for the video because I hate being redundant.
The tunnel located just up the road a couple hundred feet is what was left from a tunneling project in which they found out just how hard it is to tunnel through solid granite. Here you will need a flashlight because they tunneled about 200 feet before giving up and it gets a bit dark…and creepy. We left the camera rolling while we walked the full distance just in case something happened to us, then at least there would be a video record of what happened.
I believe we will be back soon for the Air Show on the 13th, so make sure you come out and see us.
